Mojang's indie sandbox, Minecraft, has finally exited beta and gone gold ahead of its official release later this week.
Studio head Markus "Notch" Persson revealed the news on Twitter, writing: "So, yes. Minecraft has gone gold." The game, which has sold more than four million copies since it was released in an alpha state in May 2009, will be officially released on Friday at the inaugural MineCon event in Las Vegas.
