Embattled UK retailer Game Group will be stocking PS3 vehicular shooter Twisted Metal when it is released on Friday.
Publisher Sony confirmed the news to Eurogamer in a brief statement. It's rare good news for Game, which following the loss of its credit insurance last month has been without stock of new titles from Nintendo, Capcom, Ubisoft and EA.
Sony's continued support of the retailer, while welcome, is no great surprise given the role Game played in the UK launch of new handheld PS Vita last month. Another publisher, Rising Star Games, has admitted it is "still in dialogue with Game" concerning the supply of Wii and 3DS compilations Bit.Trip Complete, which are also due on shelves this Friday. There's no news on Yakuza: Dead Souls, which is also out on Friday, though Sega's zombie-infested spin-off is still available to preorder through Game's website.
Reports over the weekend claimed Game had put itself up for sale in a desperate bid to raise cash to cover its quarterly rent bill. The retailer admitted in a statement yesterday that it was exploring several options but could not guarantee that any of them would safeguard the company's future or rescue its share price, which fell to as little as half a penny yesterday.
